Hi,
He will be responsible for migrating the data from the existing legacy systems to your new SAP system.
He should have a understanding of the data formats required by SAP and the different ways in which the data can be loaded into SAP.

Ravi

Hi,
Along with what Ravi has mentioned some of the other responsibilities include.
>> Define the migration strategy
>> Define cut over strategy
>> Define conversion mapping rules
>> Define Data Validation strategy along with the business users
>> Define data massaging rules

I am not sure if there is anything specific to learn in this area apart from the understanding of the objects that you are going to migrate - for example if you are migrating PO / Materials you need to understand the functionlaity of the same. You need to know the validations to be done etc etc.
The role is more strategic in nature.
However, from a technical stand point, you can look at the BAPI's that can be used, if NOT you will have to evaluation whether you have to go the LSMW route or the custom program route etc etc.

Ravi
