Better explain why... i.e. for a currency amount field, the "reference field" must be a currency key field (with DDIC predefined type CUKY).

I'm surprised by the text of this message AD855 "&-& (combination reference table/field &-& does not exist)", though... I would prefer "is invalid" rather than "does not exist"

BSEG may be a cluster table in your system which means maybe you can't use it at all as a reference table. Use something else.

I just tried it, no issue that it's a currency key field in a clustered table, because anyway it's used at display time only.
