Purpose of qualifier in IDOCS..?

HI All,

Please let me know the purpose of qualifier in idocs and how to use?

give me sample code / example..

Hi Subbu,

A Qualifier allows a field to maintain different type of data.For example ,if 'date' is a field with quilifier ,then that date field can hold a) creation date b)sold date c)delivery date etc....

So here qualifier is used to minimise the space so that we can use one field for diff purposes.other examples for field with qualifier is 'order' ,this order field may contain purchase order, sales order etc.

Hello Subbu,

Consider whether the use of qualifiers can be avoided. Qualifiers indicate how a segment is used and are difficult to document and interpret. Qualifiers are not usually defined on a cross-application basis, with the result that these segments are not universal.
