R - tier ...

sap R/2 Means 2 tier Architecture .... earlier sap was started with 2 tier ..

1 is database and 2 is presentation layer (it is mixture of Application & presentation layers ) .... later

SAP R/3 it mean 3 tier Architecture which has

1 is database layer your oracle or sun solaris or SQL...etc

2 is application layer Your SAP derive where all workprocess are there and execute's all program ,transcationcode ....etc .

3 is presentation layer where the user see all the screen ..

for any user and abap only the presentation layer is visisble .

for basis only all 3 layers are visible .

reward points if it is usefull ...
