Case Study: WorldWide SAP System

Hello,

we are a student group and we need some help for our case study.

The following facts are given:

- a worldwide operating company (278 subsidaries in 65 countries)

-->through mergers and acquisitions

- extreme heterogeneous IT Landscape (over 200 ERP Systems)

-->increasing IT Costs

- producing POWER Machines

Target:

- new legal model

- decreasing IT costs

- Best Practice IT Concept for the whole company

Question:

- ERP? Which? maybe: SAP Business Suite??

- is one neough? right now there are over 200

- how can we take over old data in the new system?

- architecture?

- how much money can an implementation cost?

- Implementation duration

...

We know there are not enough information, but we would really appreciate this if somebody could help use with a proper approach for a new worldwide (SAP) IT Solution.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Bye the students

I don´t think someone will answer that question with real facts - it´s YOUR work to calculate that - not that of a stranger

To your questions:

- ERP? Which? maybe: SAP Business Suite??

Yes, but Business Suite is not only ERP but also SRM, SCM...

- is one neough? right now there are over 200

Who would be able to answer that question?

- how can we take over old data in the new system?

There are procedures of doing so (e.g . using LSMW)

- architecture?

???

- how much money can an implementation cost?

Well.. impossible to say

- Implementation duration

Same - impossible to say

The costs are a variable factor, they depend on many many things:

- what do you plan to implement (which scenarios, "modules")?

- how much consultancy is necessary (for legal things in FI, HR etc.)

- are the project people educated enough to program/adapt things themselves or do you need consultants?

- what is the strategy? one system with all or a system/client/plant for each country?

etc. etc.
