Can anyone please explain why we need to connect both eCATT and QTP for automation

Hi,

I am planning to start SAP automation using QTP 10.

I am directly accessing the SAP client app and didn't configure eCATT with QTP. and I am able to automate the scenarios.

Please let me what is the best practice for SAP automation since I am using external automation framework for managing the scripts.

Please Advice.

Hi AJ,

Actually I a SQA Automation Head, I am planning to create a portable SAP Automated test script package.

In this site, every where I see everyone asking questions related to How to connect QTP and eCATT.

so I think its must to do.

Please advice.

Hello Ranjini,

You dont need to configuire eCATT with QTP unless you are using QTP to automate applications which are not feasible using eCATT. If you want to maintain all your test scripts automated at one central location (automated either using eCATT, QTP or any other third party tool) then you can configure  your Central system to link to QTP, else you dont need this configuration.
