Installing SAP GUI 7.10

Former Member

Hello!

Is it ok if I will just download the SAP GUI for Windows 7.10 patch (gui710_1-10002995.exe and gui710_2-10002995.exe)?

Or is the PDB files (gui710_pdb_1-10002995.exe and gui710_pdb_2-10002995.exe) also required?

I got the files from here: https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/swdc (Support Packages and Patches>Entry by Application Group>SAP Frontend Components>SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS>SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 7.10 CORE)

Thanks!

Hi,

What are the files needed to be downloaded for SAP GUI 7.10 for 64 bit Windows 2003 server.

Thanks

Hi,

They contain support files for debug purposes only

SAP note 503115 says:

"

The SAP Service Marketplace contains, in addition to the actual Support Package file for the SAP GUI (for example, GUI610.EXE), another file with a "pdb" extension (for example, 610_PDB.EXE).

The PDB file is ONLY required when requested by SAP Support (it contains important debugging information for SAP GUI "crashes"). The OSS message issued with each problem contains more information on how to handle the PDB file.

"

So no need to install them.

I see..

I have a SAP GUI 6.40 but after running the set-up (gui710_1-10002995.exe), it is still SAP GUI 6.40...

Why is this so?

Hi,

It is indeed strange that the 710 patches can be applied on 640 without warning, we've encountered the same.

You need first to install SAP gui 710 first before you can apply the patches. You can download it via service.sap.com/swdc. Choose Installations and Upgrades instead.

Hi again!

I went here: Installations and Upgrades -> SAP Frontend Components -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 7.10 CORE

The objects that I saw are 50083078_2.zip (NW 2004s Presentation - SAP Content Server 6.40), 50083078_4.zip (NW 2004s Presentation - 7.10 Compilation 1 Present. 1/2), and 50083078_5.zip (NW 2004s Presentation - 7.10 Compilation 1 Present. 2/2).

But they are quite big! Haha.

What should I download to complete the installation? Thanks!

Hi,

The first presentation file of 710 will do.

If you click on the info, you will see what's inside the file.

Hi,

The setup is in the dir

NW_2004s_Presentation\PRES1\GUI\WINDOWS\WIN32

Haha. I cannot find that directory...

By the way, I just downloaded 50083078_2.zip... Should I download the other zip files?

Hi,

The 50083078_4 should contain this.

According to the info, it should have a GUI\WINDOWS\WIN32 dir with a setup for Gui, BI or all.

Hi Recardo,

First read the document sap_front_end_installation_guidance.pdf

So you will understand which exe to run and when.

Hi

You need to

1) Download the zip file 50083078_4.zip from the service.sap.com/swdc.

2) Unzip the zip files to a new folder (say sapgui704)

3) You will find the file NWSapSetup.exe in folder C:\SAPGUI704\NW_2004s_Presentation\PRES1\GUI\WINDOWS\WIN32\setup\NwSapSetup.exe

Hope this helps.

Let me know after you install.
