HR Components level after EHP6 Installation

Former Member

Hello All,

I am going to do a fresh installation of HRIS(HR) system which should be at EHP6 level.
I read that after a fresh installation of ERP EHP6,only central application components will be at EHP6 and other components need to be upgraded separately.
I have  concern about HR components since this is going to be HR system.

Right now Dont have solution manager, so cant upgrade HR component just after SAP installation using SUM tool.

Is there any way I can have HR components also at EHP6 level along with SAP installation?

If SAINT can be used to do HR upgrade, will it work if I download HR patches from SMP and keep them in EPS/in(without having an XML file from MOPZ)?

Please suggest.

Thanks in advance,
Sam

Hi Sam,

You can perform the fresh installation of the system by the sapinst, but ERP 6.0 EHP6 installation is a two-steps procedure. After the fresh installation only fundamental part is at ehp6 level (eg. basis 731

and appl 606). And many other components like EA_HR and SAP_HR are still on release 600.

This is the reason why the master guide mentions you should use SUM to update the components from 600 to 606. And after installing EHP6 ERP 6.0, the patching of the other components can be performed using the SAINT also.

But the Solution manager system is mandatory for upgrading the other components to EHP6 level as the stack xml file need to be generated. For both SUM & SAINT solution manager is mandatory and there is no other alternative for upgrading the components.

Thank You.

Yes you can but you must enter the xml at saint when you upgrading hr components.

Hello Sam,

Get the solution Manager system ready. Even if you are using the SAINT to upgrade one of the spftware components, you will need the stack.xml file. So I suggest to have a Solution Manager system before you do anything.

Hi

BTW how do you download the patches if you cannot confirm those with solman?

Let me know
