BOXI3.1 - clocks or cores

Former Member

I use BusinessObjects BOXI3.1SP5 and am considering replacement of the machine equipped with it.

I wants to improve [ performance ] in that case.

for that purpose -- the number of clocks, and the number of cores -- to which should priority be given?

For example, which is better for performance, CPU with the low number of clocks with many cores, and CPU with the high number of clocks with few cores?

Hidetoshi,

For XI 3.1 I would choose CPU cores over higher clock speed essentialy because BO Services such as Web Intelligence Processing (WIPS), Adaptive Processing (APS) etc. are linked to the number of CPU not how powerful the CPU is. Also since XI 3.1 is a 32bit  application these BO services are limited to the amount ram they can access and you will eventually need to create additional services to ensure good performance.

Dear Ryan

Thank you for your email.

I understood that a direction with many cores was good for high performance.

It was a great help.

Best Regards
