SD vs CRM

Can someone clarify between SD vs CRM?

What sort of professional background is expected out of SD consultant or CRM consultant?

With Software / Solution / Service sales background, what could be appropriate module to go for. Many people I spoke with, recommend that with Sales background, SD is the module to go for...could it be simply because that's what it is called - SALES & Distribution ?

  • but having had look at SD module I realise it has nothing to do with lead generation / conversion, sales funnel, maintain sales pipeline etc. Tasks I usually associate with Sales experience. Rather I see CRM more aligned to such experience.
  • SD (to me) seems more suitable to those coming from Distribution / Order fulfilment background. Post-sales background if you wanna call it? or those who had been involved in selling some physical goods (like in a factory settings) that involved maintaining inventory of some physical goods, scheduling, delivering physical goods items

Any clarifications pls.? or could it be there is lot of overlap between SD and CRM, and both could as good a module to develop career in leveraging Sales background.

Thanks for the clarification!!

best wishes,

/V

Hi ,

What you said is correct .For being a SD consultant you have to gain knowledge about distribution, warehouse, dispatch of goods from warehouse etc then you can understand the SD module easily .Reason being is if you know the process then you can easily configure it in SAP.I do got an opportunity in SD because my backgroud is related to logistics but even a computer science engineer can also opt for SD it totally depends upon your interest.

CRM is used in services, marketing, sales industry .My company has implemented CRM only for complaint management system i.e only for services because it a utility company, just to register a complaint.

Learning and gaining knowlege about new things doesn't goes waste.

   Thanks

Hi,

I would recommend CRM with Sales and Dist. as compared to Just Sales and dist.

CRM is much better to start with rather than SD.

dear, do not forget that SD also means outbound deliveries/shipments and invoicing (huge area all together)

it is like elephant

CRM ,from my point of view,  is just the 'dancing around product to be sold/already sold'

it is like ant
