SAP Solution Manager Install problem

Hi I'm new to SAP and I'm trying to install the Solution Manager 7.1 on a windows server. I've looked at the documentation, but am still not sure as to what needs to be downloaded from the SAP Marketplace. Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

Hy William,

under service.sap.com/swdc (Software Distribution Center)

goto Installations and Upgrades.

You need at least:

Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 (new alternative for SAPINST) SAR File

SAPCAR to unpack the SAR files

SAP Kernel DVD (7.20 f. e. & dependent on your database)

SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SR1 Install. export DVD 1 + 2

Once everything is downloaded & extracted, I'm getting the SAP MMC...is MMC the "Solution Manager" or is the Solution Manager something totally different?

Hi William,

May I suggest you to read some free, abudant documentation available on internet regarding SAP architecture, before trying your hands on installing solman system?  You need to install a Solution Manager (A SAP Netweaver System) to use it, SAP is NOT shipping solman in Zipped folders , such that you extract it (Right Mouse Click > Extract using Winzip) and System is ready to use.

As you mentioned, you are new to SAP , so please try installing an IDES system and learn the know how of SAP world.

as there still SAP customers witthout a solman system? or are you planning to upgrade an existing solman system?

i would suggest you start reading the install guides, operations guides but also the well written RKTs... quick SMP links /rkt , /instguides
