FTP Sender channel polled file 2 hrs late

Former Member

Hi All,

I have seen a strange behaviour of FTP sender communication channel

For last 5 months this interface ( FTP to NFS) is running in production without any issue and poll interval is ( 86400 secs)  and everyday @ exactly 8.00 PM 2 files are picked up.  But today the files are picked up at 10.00 PM.

I have triple checked  there is no change in comm channel or FTP or cache.

We have 3 cluster nodes and all are showing green. In one it shows message picked up @ 10 .00 PM.

What could be the reason? i have seen in some SDN posts , ppl are suggesting it might be due to lock

I am clueless how to debug this mysterious issue

Please help

SAM

i am in sync with you. PI is unpredictable

So how do i debug that?I am sure i cannot recreate the issue.

I know in EOIO the lock issue happens sometime and i did face the issue long time back.

but mine one is a EO case.

is it possible that due to some reason all the 3 cluster nodes were locking each other and till 10.00 all were loacked .as soon the issue was resloved the firs one picked up the file?

Shall I report this to SAP?

Hi Sam,

This type of situation can happen with any other middleware product also.

You could only find whether the polling happened between 8 PM to 10 PM or not, from Communication Channel Monitoring, but after some period you wont find old logs.

If for any reason nodes got locked, you should observed issue with other interfaces also. Not sure whether SAP can point out any inner log where you can see what happened at that time. But there is no other way to replicate the situation.

Hi Sam,

Would suggest to raise this with SAP too and see, it could be that this might be happening due to some cluster nodes locking each other.

Abhishek

Hi Sam,

Have you checked whether File Channel polled between 8 PM to 10 PM or not in RWB-Communication Channel Monitoring? It should not be an issue with PI until lock happened. Are you also sure File was dropped before 8 PM at the FTP location?

Its really a weird issue. Even if the files were not there at 8, it would have polled the next day at 8 and picked up the files and not do it 2 hrs later.

I hope someone did not stop and start the channel or there was no adapter engine restart or downtime.

Correct Ambrish.

And as i said , i have checked the administrative log of the channel it was last changed in 2012.So that chance ruled out.

Hi Sam,

I think you should seek SAP support immediately so that the logs are not overwritten. SAP may peep into the Java logs and find out what exactly happened.
