Chowdary,

There are TWO major features you get with the rich-client of WebI that you don't get with BI Lauch Pad WebI, they are:

- Ability to work offline

- Ability to connect to local data source like ( CSV, TXT, XLS, XLSX)

Ajay

Hi Chowdary,

Webi Rich Client has a key feature of Saving the Webi Report for All Users & Remove Document Security. Using this option, You can share the .wid file to others(outside of your environment). I have given the .wid file in OSS Message for analysing a defect.

Hope it helps you!!!

Hi,

Basically BI LauchPad is a Web based application of Business Objects which is used for different functionalities as mentioned by Jothi. This application gives you a way to access BO clients from Web such as Crystal reports, Webi Intelligence, Analysis and Explorer.

While Webi Rich client is a Desktop tool. This is BO Client tool to create Web Intelligence reports. And as Ajay said if you use Web Intelligence through Web (BI LaunchPad application) you will not get the ability to work offline and connect to local datasources.

Please let me know if it helps.

Thanks,

Swati

Hi,

Both are different.

BI Launch is formerly known as Infoview and a web browser. It is a main interface for working with objects in BI platform.you can deploy different types of objects, such as Crystal reports , Analysis , Explorer and Web Intelligence documents, that are created from BI platform plug-in components. You can use BI launch pad to view the objects, organize them, and work with them.

Web Intelligence is a tool to create reports based on BICS or Universes.

Go thru the document if you need more details:
