How to initial load Sales Order Stock and Customer Consignment Stock

Hi guys,

Some question need your advice base on your project experience.

We intend to load legacy system stock (non-SAP) into SAP, and it turned out the existing business does have customer consignment stock and sales order stock.

May I know how to load it in SAP.

1) For Sales Order Stock;

I know we can perform MB1C with special stock "E", movement 561, and Sales Order document (i.e. a valid order document which must first exist in SAP first)

My question is.... does it mean to load this sales order stock, business needs to provide us the sales order and we have to create the sales order into the SAP system before perform the 561 load.? it seems not making any sense....

2) For Customer Consignment Stock;

Totally no clue on this.

Appreciated.

Daniel

why shouldn't it make any sense to create a sales order to load sales order stock. Exact that is the way, otherwise it would not be salesorder stock.

the inventory load is almost the last activity in a migration.  the logistics go-live is often weeks earlier, where orders with a delivery date after go-live get already entered into the new system.

And as you usually get new numbers with a new entry, you have to have sales order numbers in your mapping table like you have it for customers, vendors and materials.

The mapping table for my current project has almost a million entries.

Hi Jurgen,

Ok, sure. But One silly question, since the sales order is going to create first in the SAP before the stock load, it seems there is no need to load sales order stock into the system, correct? reason being when a sales order is create, a stock is already pickup and tied to the relevant sales order at the first place.

Or maybe when the sales order create and there is no stock to tied to (obviously there is no stock at that time because intia load not yet incurs) , and hence, during stock load, we will have to link the stock to the sales order document number?

Is my later part of my question hits right answer or I am totally out?

Thanks

Daniel

Hi,

You need to have reference document which is your sales order and then perform MB1C with special stock "E", movement 561,

Better perform all process in sand box or quality client and verify all accounting entries by FICO team.

Daniel,

since the sales order is going to create first in the SAP before the stock load, it seems there is no need to load sales order stock into the system, correct? reason being when a sales order is create, a stock is already pickup and tied to the relevant sales order at the first place.

Remember, you are only mapping data that currently exists in the legacy system.  If, in the legacy system, you have an open MTO sales order, and if there is stock that is directly allocated to that sales order, then you need to load the MTO Sales order in SAP and thereafter also load the Sales Order Stock in SAP.  If there is no stock in the legacy system for that order, naturally you won't load it into SAP.

You made a statement that implies that when a sales order is created, there is already stock linked to it.  This is not true!  A sales order that is due in the future commonly has no linked stock on hand to support it.  The stock only gets built or purchased to meet a deadline that is related to the shipping date of the sales order.  For instance, it makes no sense to build stock for a legacy customer order, if the customer does not want it shipped until 2014.

I am also assuming that the decision has been made to use one of the MTO strategies.  If the decision is made to use only MTS in SAP, then there will be no sales order stock to enter into SAP.

Hi Daniel,

For point 2 you load with movement type 561 with special stock indicator W.

You then when loading the stock need to include the customer number.

For point 1 I'm not sure as I have never loaded sales order stock before.
