Connection list remains empty

Hi,

I'm unable to select a connection from Analysis from Microsoft. ( version 1.3, BO version 4.0 SP6 ).

I created some OLAP connections to a few Microsoft Analysis cubes ( using the olap/msmdpump.dll ), and these connections work fine for Webi and even for analysis OLAP edition. But when connection mij Analysis for microsoft (using Excel) to my BO platform, I get an empty list instead of my connections.

When I create a new folder structure in the OLAP connections from the CMC, that structure is visible from Analysis. It just doesn't show the actual connections.

I've re installed Analysis, updated my BI Platform to the latest SP. I've created different types of connections ( 2005,2008 and 2012 ) with different types of authentications ( SSO, Prompt and Pre-defined), but all with the same result. No result....

I'm sure i'm missing something obvious, but I've been  at this problem to long. Please help me with the issue.

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Analysis Office cannot connect to Microsoft Analysis Cubes.

Right now it can only connect to BW / Hana.

So your scenario will not work with Analysis Office.

Thank you for your answer! But (as you may expect) i'm not very amused by it...

There are quite a few document going around explaining how Analysis for Microsoft can use BW and SSAS datasources....

So for anyone reading this in search of the magical radiobutton for activating your SSAS datasources:

Please discard what you have read about SSAS connections up until know and stop trying. It is a waste of time.

Tammy; Once again, thanks for you quick answer!

I believe Analysis for OLAP can read MSAS data sources (I am not using MSAS) but Analysis Office right now can only read BW/Hana

Sorry it wasn't the right answer for you, I understand your disappointment.

You're correct on the OLAP version. It does support SSAS connections.

So I've got something to present to my client, but having a real replacement for his Pivot tables would have been nice.

No worries, still a big SAP fan 😉
