This question seems like it's more of a question about Acrobat than about PB.

How can Acrobat be triggered to do the conversion? Is there an API? Command-line arguments? Once we know that, we would be able to help you figure it out in PB.

Of course I'm sure Acrobat installs a PDF printer, so one option would be to use OLE from PB to connect to a Word application, have it open the doc, and print to that printer. I suspect how to do that can be figured out fairly easily from the Word docs. But depending on how that is all configured, I'm guessing it might still require some user intervention (like, the PDF printer will prompt for a filename to save it as).
