Delta in generic dataSource

Hi All,

I have a generic extractor from SAP source, based on a table of SAP ECC ... My question is how to control delta in release 7.3. My InfoPackage only gives the option to "complete upgrade". How do I control the delta via DTP? I am not able to make it work. Help me, please!

Thanks

Hi Angelo,

If your question is related to controlling delta through DTP, then it would be based on request or REQUEST BASED DELTA, which means that if a new load happens, which according to your infopack is Full Update, then that new load will be considered for the next DTP delta run.

If your question is related to setting up delta from the datasource, which is generic as you've mentioned, then you'll have to figure out a field of the extractor based on which the delta should be designed. Delta can be set up based on Numeric Pointer, Calday, Timestamp (UTC) and Timestamp. Once this is done then the datasource will have to be replicated to BW and then if you create an infopackage under this datasource you will be able to see options such as Initialization, Early Delta Initialization and Full update. If you now run an initialization then the next run of the infopackage can be set to DELTA, which will only pick the newly created or changed records since the last run based on the type of delta field chosen.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

First you need to configure your data source so that it is empowered to do delta extraction.
The document below is explained step by step how to create a DataSource control delta.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Actually in this scenario, you have datasource with full update, you can control the delta by using infopackage with selection where date of creation or change required.
