SAP MDM Workflow

Hi Experts,

Is MS visio required to be installed on the local machine, if we are working on VPN servers. If not, are the workflows on the server dependent on the configurations on local machine and do we need to have SAP MDM clients installed on local machine also.

Thanks,

Rimpy Kaul

Hi Rimpy,

It is not required to install Ms-Visio on local machine if you are attempting to access MDM clients via remote desktop. Workflows built on server may not be dependent on configuration of your local machine.

If you access client machine through remot desktop then it is required to have Ms-Visio installled over same client server as well.  Hope this is clear- Please feel free to let us know if any queries.

Ali

Hi Rimpy,

VPN connects to a network in a secure way.Inside that network if you using a RDP (Remote desktop) then RDP must have MS Visio installed to view Workflows.Sometimes there is no RDP used.

Generally VPN->RDP/Citrix->SAP are used as they provide stabler connection whereas VPN->SAP is found to be slower many a times.

Thanks,

Hi Rimpy,

First using MDM clients you will be designing workflows and save it. then if file process is automatic you will be triggering it in configuration settings of import manager for the specific map. If it is manual you can run via mdm clients only. For designing a workflow you need to first install MS visio in your local system. but once you have designed your workflow then it is not required or mandatory to have visio installed. you can run it in any local machine which doesn't have visio installed.

thanks

Hi Rimpy,

You need to have MS visio installed on the local machine you will use to view the MDM workflows.

WIthout MS Visio, installed on your local machine you will not be able to open MDM workflows and edit them.
