Modifing cleansing Packages without IS

Hi, I have a question about internal architecture for Cleansing Packages. I have installed and used it on DS 4.0.
My question is when we install cleansing packages then where it gets stored. What if we want to make changes into it without the use of InformationSteward. Is it in some XML file or in someDB file???

I need to know the architecture how cleansing package works internally in BODS and IS. Everyone knows how to create and it but there is no docs on what happens internally. For e.g. where is all packages stored.

How can I modify cleansing package without Information Steward? I need some innovative idea not flat ans like we can not do it or shud not do it. It is another question if it is supported or not.
Thanks,

    Hi Kalpesh,

It is not possible to modify the cleansing packages without using Information Steward. The actual cleansing package files are stored in the Input File Repository and read from there and copied to the Data Services box into a useable format.

    Thanks,

    Hi Kaplesh,

As Denise mentioned cleansing Package in IS will be stored into attached File Information Repository and the Second thing you can generate an .lcmbiar file of Cleansing Package and you can try with that I tried to open .lcmbiar file with wordpad but I couldn't.

So better too change CP in IS itself you can modify the rules their itself.

    • Just wanted to mention if you do manually find a way to edit it outside of IS (which I don't think there is one), that is not supported at all, so if you run into issues then with Data Cleanse or the files or crashes of jobs that use them, you will not be able to receive support until you can reproduce the issue with the original files or files that have generated the changes through IS.

      Thanks,
      Denise

    Hi,

What's your use case scenario and why do you want do it that way? Was the cleansing project developed in IS by somebody else and you don't IS access?

    Thanks

    Hi Kalpesh,

Kindly Let me know if you have found any solution or work around for your requirement.

I have the same kind of requirement where we need to update more number of Cleansing Packages

    Thanks,

    • Hi Senthilnathan,

There is currently not an option to dynamically add entries to the cleansing package.

Could you answer the similar questions that I asked Kalpesh? Can you provide some additional information on where and how the data would be collected/identified? What would the process and flow look like (e.g. what type of software or individual is collecting the data)? How would you identify what data needs to be added to the cleansing package? How do you see the data being captured and placed into the cleansing package?

Also if you could log the enhancement request in the Idea Place that would be great. It allows others to vote on the suggestion. From Denise's post: there is a KBA to reference on Idea Place and where to find it:

    Hi Kalpesh,

Could you let me know if this was posted to the Idea Place; I am not able to find it listed there?

Can you provide some additional information on where and how the data would be collected/identified to put into and XREF table? What would the process and flow look like? How would you identify what data needs to be added to the cleansing package? How do you see the data being captured and placed into an XREF table?

    Thank you,
