how to connect webdynpro screen with template

Hi,

     we have created an template with a connector of embedded search help type.Now,the requirement is, a webdynpro screen with multiple inputfields are there..once the user fills those fields and clicks on display button..then the trex should bring the requisite data...kindly throw some lights..i have been looking for something useful for so long..and finally landed on to this..kindly throw some ideas...

Hi Ankit,

Did you already tested your template through ESH report?

If its working fine then why dont you copy whole report and hard core other infos like connector, criteria and pass this to ESH FMs then show results in your custom screen.

Am I missing something?

Glad to see some answers on my post. Let me brief once again about the problem. Actually we have the custom template and according to the rahul’s suggestion, I tested it through the report ESH_TEST_SEARCH and its working fine. Now, our webdynpro screen is having 40 input field and that needs to be pass to TREX  through an internal table and same needs to be retrieved back on to the webdynpro screen.

Till now my understanding is, we can connect our webdynpro screen to the template through the report and with the addition of connector and criteria in the esh fm’s we can further connect it through trex. Now my query’s are :

1.   1. Am I going in  right direction?

2.   2. What types of function modules, we can use..?  I searched on scn and came up with a    fm  name TREX_EXT_SEARCH_DOCUMENTS..but not sure about this..

3.   3. Will the same function module bring the result back on to the webdynpro screen?

4.   4. Can you suggest some kind of note or any document or sample code..any sort of information will be highly helpful.

Hi Ankit,

Unfortunately calling ESH Search & managing search results is very complex. There is no shortcut like call one just FM and pass all request attributes and get all result.

You can check FM 'ESH_F4_HELP_EXIT' (where used list for sample) or try to debug esh_test_search report and see if you can somehow manage to create new FM which fit with requirements.

Otherwise check with your client if they can live with transaction "esh_search" which is already integrated in Web dynpro UI.

I'm not sure your required is here exactly. Can you not leverage the Talent Search? If not, you can use function module HRTMC_SEARCH_OBJECTS to return data.

Thanks for sparing your time Luke,but it's not about talent search or talent management module.Actually We have created a template for searching Training Course/Training Path using TREX in HCM . and with this template we have to integrate our webdynpro screen. we are not getting any clue to proceed further.kindly show some path..as its very critical requirement from our client.

Hi Ankit,

If you have done the configuration correctly then you should be able to search your template via function module HRTMC_SEARCH_OBJECTS. Have you tried that? This is what the WDAs in the Portal call.

Did you index your search object connector in ESH_COCKPIT after creating it?
