I have many reports that have been executing for years without fail. Lately, in the past few months, I've been getting the error messages "Failed to retrieve data from the database. Database Connector Error: 'Cannot obtain error message from server.' When I exit CR, relaunch CR and execute the same report, no problem. The report runs as per usual.
What are these error messages popping up?
Possibly something in the DB client has been updated, someone may have changed the data structure...
Open the Report and click on Database, Verify database and save it again.
If you want you can enable CRlogger and see if it catches anything. Search for crlogger and you'll find a KBA on how to.

Are you getting them in CR designer or in Infoview/Bilaunchpad ?
