Merging BW Systems

Hello Experts!

We are planning to merge Europe and US SAP systems and upgrade the system to  BI 7.3. Currently we are on BI 7.0. Though the system is upgraded technically from 3.5 to 7.0 earlier, very few data models are functionally upgraded. 

R3 merger and upgrade (4.6C to 6.0) is in progress. Conflict analysis is done and build is in progress for R3 system. 

Coming to BW systems, So far we have decided to do a dry copy of Europe system onto a new server and then move all the objects from US BW system to the new system by manual transport on case to case basis resolving the conflicts.

No detailed methodological approach is worked upon and we seek help in this area.

1. Can you suggest the methodology ( document or white paper) which gives the best practices, do's and dont's, testing strategies on the merger.

2. Technical upgrade 7.3 follows the merger. Can anyone suggest the white papers or any documentation on the same (steps to follow on BW front specifically, not on Basis and DB Admin front).

Thank you Raman ( and Nithesh ( ) for your reply. All the threads and links provided are talking about two source systems and a BW system. In my scenario, we are not talking about two source systems. we are talking about unified source system as well as unified BW systems. Like I explained earlier, one BW system will be dry coped (without data) onto a new server, then all the BW objects are to be copied from the other BW system onto the new server. Could you please throw some ideas on the same.

Hi Tony,

Copying of BW system without data may not be possible. for this you can check with your basis team.

For copy of bBW system also you can check with basis team, they can help you.

Copying of BW system without data is not possible... Please check with your basis team also...

You need to re-install the system and collect and import the required objects.
