Dashboard SP05 Patch 5 BEX Multiple graphs to feed one selection

Hello,

I have one set of data. I want the user to be able to view the data in which ever graph type they desire and make a selection from the graph. This selection will feed a parameter to the next graph. In order to run the query the user has to select from the graph and then hit the next button. The query is real time. The graph selection does not trigger the query. I do not have the graph selection trigger the query in case they are just looking and the pop up values and not making a final decision.

When they make a selection and hit the next button to populate the following graph the second graph populates. If they then change the graph type on the first graph, by selecting a new graph view, it resets the original selection to null and the second graph is now invalid and still showing the original data.

Any suggestion on how to overcome this?

Thank you,

Roger

    Hi Roger,

Isn't Connectivity not Supported in Dashboards??

If you are using static data, when you are pushing that cell(which has the selection from the charts) by pressing next(push Button) make sure that it is mapped separately into another cell such that your original selections are not altered unless and untill you press the next button. This should hopefully solve your problem,

    Thanks,

    Fazith

    Hi,

I don't have much time at the moment so my answer will be brief.

For the first part (select graph type) use a Combo Box/Radio Box. Set the dinamic visibility of each type of graph to a certain selection. Make sure the default selection is -1 (i.e No Selection).

When designing the data make all the graph have the same source, enable dinamic visibility on all of them and make them all have the same destination (which will be the source of the next graphs)

Add a Reset Button. When pressed this will return to the initial state (i.e. The Combo Box selection =-1 which will caus the graphs to dissapear.

This is how you do it in brief. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask and I will come back to you soon.

    Regards,

    Matt

    Hi Roger,

I have Xcelsius 2008 on the machine I'm currently working on so won't be able to replicate the problem now.

From what I remember, an unexpected workaround I used was to put a grid on top of the destination. For some reason this prevented the data already in the destination from dissapearing when "Back" was selected.

Not sure if this will apply to your dashboard and I don't think the grid is available for iPad but if this works then we'll narrow the problem significantly. Also, when I'll get the chance to get to get to my laptop running Dashboards (2011) I'll replicate the problem there.

Please let me know if the grid helps.

    Regards,

    Matt
