Dear Experts,

I am taking online/offline backup with HP ultrium LTO4 drive on 1.6TB tape.

My database is oracle 11.0.2 running on windows having 1.4TB size.

from last 1 year it was running fine. but few days back BRBACKUP failed after 50% with error as "Physical End of tape has been reached"

in init<sid>.sap file tape_size=1600 is already set.

i tried taking backup on different tapes but same issue is occuring.

I have attached init<sid>.sap file.

Kindly take look and suggest something.

Thanks in advance

Sumit Jha

Hi Sumit,

Try setting the parameter compress parameter to yes to see if a compressed backup can fit.

Also, as per note 8707

"

after the physical tape-end has been reached and the backup

terminated, use the quantity output in the last BR063I message

as an approximate value for the tape_size parameter.

"

what was the exact error message?

Paul

Hello

You probably need to check the tape configuration settings at the backup server side.

Suggest you to check with the storage specialist for this.

Also provide the full error log.

Cheers

Hi Sumit,

Refer to guidelines in  SAP Note 13372 - BRBACKUP reaches end of tape

Hope this helps.
