Send excel to browser

Hi gurus,

I have the following problem: I want to send an internal table in Excel format to the browser (using the ITS). For this I use the ALEWEB_DOWNLOAD function module with parameter mime_type set to "application/excel".

However, in the browser I get a pop-up to save the file (security warning) as the file type is unkown. Probably the mimetype sent doesn't get to the browser?

When I save the file to the desktop and open the file using Excel there is no problem at all, so the structure of the data should be ok.

Does anyone has a clue?

Kind regards,

John.

Hi John,

are you sure the mimetype "application/excel" is correct? As far as I know it is application/vnd.ms-excel.

Best regards,

Klaus

Hi Igor,

if your are using windows I would look up the registry with regedit.exe. The mime type for excel is stored in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/.xls in the variable "Content Type". On my machine it is application/vnd.ms-excel.

Best regards,

Klaus
