Do I transport the DTPs from Development to test and production, or not?

Dear masters,

I am at a point in my project where I need to take a stand on whether to transport my DTPs from Development to Test and Production, or to just build them all over again in each system.

As I can see it, a pro for buidling them all over again is more flexibility on the DTPs in each system. Frequent changes might be needed here.

I con for building them all over again in each system is that then I'll have to build the process chains in all systems as well. (On the other hand I think I need the Process chains only in production and can build them directly there).

Can you help me with this consideration? Are there any important factors I have not considered? I am leaning towards not transporting DTPs.

Regards Silje

Hi Silje,

I would definitely recommend you creating DTPs and process chains in production system. That is how we use right now, it is much more flexible than trying to transport, sometimes errors occur in data loads and error DTPs have to be created, if you choose to transport it is too difficult to handle error DTPs.

Hope it helps

Best practice is to transport the DTPs or Infopackages across dev,Q and prod. You could maintain additional repair DTPs or infopackages in production for production support related monitoring or issues

Hi Silje,

its always best and standard sap approach to keep all environments in sync.

Create(DTPs) in dev and test in quality and move to prodcution.

Process chains you can create in prod. but you need to test and apporvals from client or users. if thely allow you to do in prod. you can. if not please go from dev to prod again.

clients always follow best practise.

Thanks
