Group policies causing trouble with Web AS for Java

Former Member

Hello,

I am trying to run local SAP Netweaver 7.0 Web AS for Java with MaxDB on Windows 7 64-bit. It was running alright, but global policies in our company have changed and now I am not able to see the instance of my server in the SAP Management Console, hence I can’t start the server.

If I undo the policy change, it works again. I need to know which policies are affecting the Web AS. Here is a screenshot of all changed policies. Could You please help me to identify the policies causing the problem?

Thanks,

Igor Torda

Hi,

maybe the policy is preventing you to start the windows service "SAP<SID>_<INSTANCE_NR>". Open services.msc on your computer and check, if the service is startet. If it's not, you cannot see the system in the SAPMMC. Open the properties, enter the right credentials and try to start the service. After that, restart the sapmmc.

If the service was not startet and you can see the system after starting it, I think the policy "Logon as a service" is preventing the service to start automatically.

Regards,

Bernd

Hello Igor,

If you canot see the system add it to the SAPMMC. Here is the step by step description:

Hi Adam,

thanks for the reply, but that is not my problem. I see the system, but I don't see instances.

Still I tried to create a new one with help of that steb by step, but I couldn't see any instance in the last step. Again a screenshot:

I am sure that it is caused by the global policy settings, but I need to know which one to ask for an exception.

Thanks,

Igor

Hello Igor,

"

In the Fixed Server List dialog box, create a list of the instances you want to monitor from the SAP snap-in. If you have enabled Always show all SAP instances of SAP systems in General, it is sufficient to specify a single instance of a SAP system; the remaining instances of the system will be added automatically:

  1. In the System field, enter or select the name of the SAP system the instance belongs to.
  2. In the Instance field, enter or select the name of the host on which the instance is running, and the instance number, for example, p18357 53
  3. Choose Add to include the instance in the Fixed Instances List.

"

Enter the information <hostname> <instance nr> of BT1 and save the settings. Then system will be shown in SAPMMC.

Best regards,

Adam

Hi Adam,

thanks for the reply. I am sorry, I missed the enter option before. However I entered the hostname and instance number and I was able to see the system, but I did get this error. I need to mention that my system is IT2 and it wasn't in the system dropdown list. I just entered it manually like the hostname and instance number.

Do you have any idea what could I do now?

Thanks and Regards,

Igor
