Item Master Data Records defaulting to update mode

Former Member

Hi there,

I thought I'd already posted this but I'm unable to see it anywhere.

I've recently upgraded a customer from SAP B1 v2007 to v8.82.

In v8.82, when they open an Item Master Data record it defaults to find mode, which is fine.  The problem arises when you use the previous/next record buttons.  Whenever you press one of these the find button changes to update.  This means that whenever you try to scroll to the next record, you have to click 'yes' on the system message window 'Unsaved Data will be lost.  Do you want to continue without saving?'.

Can you explain why yhis is deafulting to update mode when no changes have been made to the record?#

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Steve Lowery

Hi Steve Lowery

Take the backup of current affected Database and restore in Test Database  and Remove all the FMS available for the Document Or check one by one Removing FMS .This Update Occurs due to FMS only as the fields are not refreshed Properly .By this you will come to know which FMS is creating a Problem.

Hi Steve,

The system can behave this way when you are using formatted searches anywhere in the Item Master data window.

Even though such a formatted search would only get some data, B1 considers the changing of the content of any field an update. In other words, the field is empty to begin with, opening the master data window triggers the formatted search, which fills the field from empty to some value = master data updated, as far as B1 is concerned.

Hi There,

I understand what you're saying, but when I perform the same procedure on my own test system, which is also v8.82, this does not happen.

Like the customer it defaults to find mode when I open an Item Master Data Record, but when I click on next/previous record, the button changes to OK instead of Update.  This allows me to scroll through the records without getting the system message.

Why does it work one way on my setup, but differently at the customer?
