Scheduling of Workbooks from Analysis for Office

Former Member

Hello All,

Can we schedule Workbooks from Analysis for office? If no, do we have any roadmap for the same, as we cannot schedule the workbooks in 1.3?

Also, please let us know if it could be possible through any third party software?

Thanks in advance,

Diptesh

Hi Diptesh,

My understanding is this functionality was originally planned to ship with Analysis for Office 1.4 and BusinessObject 4.1. But I believe this will be withdrawn as it is not 100% ready.

I do not know of any third party software, possibly someone else might know of such

Hi all,

Broadcasting is still planned to be delivered in the 1.4 timeframe, but it is not part of the GA shipment yet. This is mainly due to legal reasons as it is connected to BIP 4.1 which will be in ramp-up for some time. We must not ship a product in GA which has features that depend on a non-GA version of another product. So we decided to take it out as long as BIP is still in ramp-up.

There'll be an Analysis Office feature pack at the GA time of the BI platform ...

Cheers,

Alex

Hi All,

Thanks a lot for this valuable information. From this we come to know that scheduling of workbooks is a feature which will take some time to be implemented. Is there any third party tool which is available for scheduling?

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Diptesh,

it is difficult to give you a concrete timing. As I said, we're depending on the GA date for the platform (which depends on the fulfillment of some ramp-up criteria like number of productive customers, number of issues etc.).

We're roughly planning for end of Q3 - but I cannot commit to that timing ..

Hi Alex,

Thanks a lot for the information. We would just like to confirm whether we can use windows scheduler for scheduling the workbooks?

Thanks,

Diptesh

Hi Alexander,

i think the platform 4.1 SP01 is now GA. Is the scheduling of Analysis Workbooks implemented in this version ? (when using AO 1.4 SP3)

Tobias

Not yet, Tobias; that is planned for a "Feature Pack" w/ Analysis Office.

Hi Tobias,

yes, Tammy is right, the feature pack, i.e. an add-on installer on top of BI 4.1 is planned to be released in Q4 2013. If all goes well, it'll be October around TechEd time ....

Alex

Hi Alexander,

do you think all goes well ? We plan an upgrade to 4.1 CW 44-45 and we would like to integrate this feature (pack) as well.

We don't want to do all the testing twice.

Tobias

Hi Alexander,

did we now "announce" the scheduling functionality for BO Analysis on the TechEd ?

So, the add-on installer is available now?

Thx,

Bettina

Hi,

is there a documentation what should work with this add-in?

I am still missing the option to tell the scheduling service with which prompt the excel should be executed...

thanks!

Hello

Any idea when the support for prompts will be delivered? We installed the BIP Add-On 1.4 SP6 but noticed that it is still not supported.

Thanks
