Using IdM UI on NW SSO JAVA Instance

Former Member

Hello,

I am planning the installation of the following products:

SAP NetWeaver Identity Management 7.2

SAP NetWeaver Single Sign On 1.0

I know that NW SSO 1.0 will need a NW JAVA, so this installation is already planned. I also know that the IdM UI component need one as well...

My question is quite simple: is it truly needed to install an additional NW JAVA instance just for the IdM UI, or I can install the UI component in the same NW JAVA as the NW SSO?

All the other IdM components (DB/MC/RT) would stay on a dedicated server. I just think that installing an NW JAVA just for an UI seems kinda wasteful... particularly because the PRD instances will need to have High Availability.

What do you guys think about that?

Franco

Hi Fabio,

Should be possible. Check out page 12 - Identity Center - Installing the Identity Management User Interface

Aren't you going with NW SS0 2.0 ?

Hello Murali!

Yeah, I saw that it is technically possible, but I was a bit worried about resource usage.. well, since it should only be the UI, I guess it should not use too much resources.

About NW SSO 2.0, I saw in PAM that it should be available, but I haven't found any 2.0 documentation in /instguides  . Since our Hardware hasn't arrived yet, if the documentation is added I shall take a look, hehe!

Thanks for the reply,

Fabio

Yes, As per the Sizing guidelines, just ensure that the servers with AS Java for the IdM UI are clustered, to ensure high availability.
