Forecast horizon is not respected in a Total Demand Calculation

Former Member

Hi,

I have created a planning book as a copy of standard planning book "Safety Stock" under PA "9ASNP05". The macros are in active status and also semantically checked and corrected. I am maintaining forecast horizon for a location product in product master data as "99" days. However when i release the forecast from DP or manually create forecast in a "Forecast" keyfigure, in Total Demand Key figure forecast values are considered alongwith sales order qty. Ideally forecast within forecast horizon period should not be considered as aTotal demand calculation.

This is even not working with standard Planning book and PA i.e. Product, 9ASNP02. This is standard feature.

Can you please let me know the reason for this and how to resolve.

Regards

Gajendra

Hi Gajendra,

As per SAP definition;

Within this horizon, Supply Network Planning (SNP) does not take the forecast into account when calculating total demand. Outside of this horizon, the system calculates total demand using either the forecast or sales orders (whichever value is larger), and the other demands (dependent demand, distribution demand, planned demand, and confirmed demand).

So it will not make any impact while demand is getting transferred from DP to SNP, while planning run it will, treatment of this field is different for different engines, which you can check on SAP help.

Hi Gajendra,

Can you please have a look at the note 412551. This note is valid only for SCM 4.0 and below.

Thanks,
