Hello Experts,
We have serious performance issue with DS Designer, To open one data flow it takes about 20 mins, I have checked network latency between database and client, which is not bad at all.
Packets Sent =4, Recd =4, Lost -0 (0%loss)
Approx round trip times in milli-secs
Min =16ms, Max =21 ms, Avg =18ms.
I have disable calculate column mappings from DS but there is no difference I see.
Please let me know what I am missing here.
Thanks,
Nis
Hello Nis,
Is your local repository that you are connecting designer to located over a wide area network (WAN)? This can definitely cause performance issues because of the large amt of data that designer must pull over the network. It is always best practice to keep the designer client at the same location/LAN as the repository databases.
Otherwise check the size of the local repository you are connecting to - if it is large, you will want to look at maybe increasing the frequency with which the logs/statistics are cleaned out (set in CMC if you are on 4.0, Management conosle if you are 3.2).
If the repository is very large and that seems to be the issue, you can also compact the repository to see if this improves the situation.
Thanks,
Denise

Thanks for your reply. Designer client is at the same location/LAN as the repository databases.
local repo is 2GB for each developer and 5GB Central, do you consider this as large? Could you please also let me know where do I go in CMC to increase the frequency with which logs/statastics are cleaned out (please explain this in detail, if possible).
Thanks,
Nis
