HI Gurus,
I have to install SAP ECC EHP6 for DB2 10.1 and Windows 2008 R2 combination in HA cluster.
I have done SAP HA installation before but all were for Windows/SQL so I am familiar with ASCS, SCS, Database, primary and additional instance installation.
This is the first time I am going to install DB2 as database in HA MSCS environment.
I have gone through the installation guide 2-3 time and have few queries, any explanation will be highly welcomed :
1. DB2 has to be installed on both the nodes using the software dump provided by SAP before starting SAP installation ?
2. Installation guide says db2mscs utility is used to cluster the database. Will it be run before ASCS and SCS installation ?
3. DB2mscs file creates resources under DBGRP in failover cluster automatically ? or they are suppose to be created manually ?
3. Normally before installation I used to ask OS/Cluster guy to create 3 groups - CLSTGRP, SAPGRP, DBGRP
Will DB2mscs create these groups or will I need to ask OS guy to create these manually before installation ?
You may suggest and share your experiences also, which will prove handy for my installation. Though at this time i just have installation guide to stick to and nothing else.
Thanks,
SG
Hello,
1. Yes, the DB2 software should exsit on both nodes locally.
2. There should no problem if you cluster the database after that.
3. Not sure what resources you are refering here. The share resource db2dump<dbsid> is created manually.
4. Basically, you have to edit the template db2mscs.eee file in the DB2 software directory \SQLLIB\cfg. The db2mscs utility will create a cluster group with the name <GROUP_NAME> (e.g. DB2<dbsid>group) which you defined in db2mscs.eee file.
Hope the above helps somewhat. Here are two note may also help.
