Hi!

you can follow the procedure explained by Bhanu if you want to create your own template.

IF you want to see the query in we with standard webtemplate. just goto query designer and then click the button "open the query in web". normally every query will be displayed in the favorites folder in SAP Start Menu. clicking this link also opens query with standard webtemplate.

Actually my question was 2 ways and I got both the answers, thanks.

Ashwin, as you said when I save my query as 'display query on the web' it shows nothing but says 'page cannot be displayed'. As you said whichever query I save in favorites in query designer gets saved in favorites in SAP Menu but I wanted these web templates to be shown under SAP Menu favorites.

Bhanu, u r right but when I say open in my web template in WAD the queries have to be shown but it displays nothing. I thought I can just open my query through the web template button and publish it on the web.

Hope my points are clear.

Thanks,

Nikki

Hi Nikki,

About your queries being shown in the Open Dialog Box of the WAD...actually it will not show you the list of queries there. It will show you a list of web templates. When you start creating a web template, you can drag and drop a web item on to the template and then assign a query (or a view) as a data provider. The reason why you cannot simply insert a query in to a web template in WAD is because it is not a 1:1 relationship. In your web template you can have say 3 tables and each of them has a different query as a data provider. So essentially it would be 3 queries in one web template.

If you cannot see any results on the web when publishishing through "display query on the web" it means that there might be an issue with your HTTP settings. You can check in transaction SMICM to see if HTTP is active (green).

Hope this helps...

Hi!

I think there is some configuration problem in your WAS settings. consult your basis team they should setup the http services in transaction SICF.

its not clear what exactly you want..saved in favorites in query designer gets saved in favorites in SAP Menu but I wanted these web templates to be shown under SAPMenu favorites.???

Hello Bhanu,

SMICM shows it is active as it is green but still not able to see anything from query designer when I say 'display query on web'. You are right, I was just confused,I can define 2 or 3 queries on one template and then define the query view and save it is a new template. But when I execute in the browser it still shows a page not displayed screen. Anything else to check before I proceed.

Secondly how does this publish button help?

Thirdly can this template be displayed in SAP Menu under favorites.

Thanks,

Nikki

go to transaction SICF and see whether

default_host->sap/bw/bex nodes are activated. if not activate them.

To get the proper error thrown by the server in webbrowser, in your Internet Explorer to to tools->internet options->Advanced and uncheck the check box against show friendly http errors.

Raja

Hi!

1) there must be some problem with your Web setting configuration , please ask your basis team to configure the http Bex services. I have described this settings sometime back in a post, you can search for SMTP or SICF in the forum.

2) the publish button it used to publish the BW reports to portal. so that you can access them from portal.

3) yes the templates are accessible from SAP menu. once you save them in the WAD they will be added to your. favorites menu. you can manually adda url to your faviourites by selecting "add other objects" in the context menu and add this URL http<protocol>://WAShostname:port/sap/bw/BEx?cmd=ldoc&template_id="WEB TemplateNAME"&sap-language=EN

Hi ASHWIN,

This is Prasad from SAP Bangalore.

I have a basic problem in executing Web Application. Below are the steps I followed. Kindly advise me further.

I have created web template using WAD. and try to execute in browser, it is asking for user athentication. I am not able to trace where I did a mistake. when I try to execute the web template in browser the URL is taking is

http://crmdev.22.2.31:8105/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&CMD=LDOC&TEMPLATE_ID=SAL_OFF_TA...

the error : the page can not be displayed.

The web server details is: http://172.22.2.29

In T code SICF: When I test Service it is redirecting the page to

http://172.22.2.31:8005/sap/bw/doc/browser?sap-client=150 and the request is successful.

I need to know the following:

1. When I save the web template (Roles or Favourities) actually whether it is saved in the web Server Path ?

2. What are the settings I have to do in webserver and BW server to execute therse web templates ?

Your Points are assured

Thanks and Regards

Prasad

Hi Nikki,

Are you looking to create a web application based on your query? You can do this in the Web Aplication Designer. Youc an choose the web item, like if you want t he data to be displayed as a table or chart and then to this web item you can provide the query name as a Data Provider. All the variables that are included in the query will be available when the user runs the web report.

If I misunderstood your requirement, please provide more details...
