Automatic purchase requisition without improving delivery date open purchase order

Hello All,

I came across the following problem. I will try tro draw the problem as clear as possible.
For our stock control we are working with the product view in APO. We have a forecast for our articles. According to this forecast the system creates purchase requisitions. This all works fine, but when I have a purchase order in the future the system will never create a requisition in front of this purchase if the sales are above forecast and we impend to run out of stock.
It seems like the system is telling us to improve the delivery date, but this is not always possible. So sometime it is recommend for the company to make another purchase order to fill up the gap. But the system is ruining this progress this way.

Is it possible to let the system automatically create a purchase requisition between today and the arrival date of a open purchase order? so that we don't run out of stock during the leadtime, due to unexpected sales?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Randy,

Have you played around with the Net Requirements Calculation procedures in Planning of Standard Lots heuristic? With Avoid Delays, the heuristic will attempt to cover the Forecast on time even if this leads to excess production in the future (e.g. available quantity > 0 after all requirements), while Avoid Surpluses will still attempt to cover the forecast on time when possible - only preventing excess production.
