Upgrade from BIA 7.0 to BWA 7.2

Hello,

We are trying to upgrade from BIA 7.0 to BWA 7.2. Can you please let me know if we need to drop the indexes before the upgrade and then recreate these indexes after the upgrade is done or can we use the same indexes without dropping them. Please advice.

Hi Varun, according to note 1392524, you do not need to drop the indexes when migrating from 7.0 to 7.2:

"No special migration steps are necessary for upgrading SAP Netweaver Business Warehouse (BW) Accelerator from BIA 7.0 to BWA 7.20, since the data structures did not change from BIA 7.0 to BWA 7.20" and "You do not need to change the BWA index structure, because the existing BWA 7.0 indexes can be reused"

Be aware that you must install and apply a BWA  license key to get you BWA system running when moving to 7.2.

We are in the process of starting to move to 7.2 too, so I'd be please to hear your comments on the upgrade process...
