Integrated and standalone scenario ...

Hi Experts,'

I have a Question or Trouble ?

We are on on EHP4 and using integrated scenario at Devlopment client .

What my manger is asking that we will use 'STANDALONE SCENARIO' at Production Client.

Is this possible? If it is possible then is it feasible ?

What challanges i could face if i try to implement SAP E-rec in this way.

Please put your lights on this discussion as it is very important for me.

I know that there are differences in configuration for both STANDALONE and INTEGRATED SCENARIOS .

What could be its implications?

Your comments will be appreciable .

Hi Pankaj;

First, Why you need to go to a Standalone scenario when you already decided to use Integrated?

Depend on the answer you maybe want to separate only the front-end, and you will have less trouble..

If you need to separated at all, yo will need off course a new installation, and you will need to migrated and adapt all the customizing and work made it on e-recruiting. you will need to keep an special attention to change all the Data Transfer configuration.

Hi jose,

Actully, it was decided earlier by someone else.

Integrated Scenario has security and Performance Concerns.

What if thousands of people applied to a job posting? and etc etc .

Looking at -ve implications of Integrated Scenario, I suggested to use Standalone Scenario.

Installation is not a problem.

What  bothering me out  is changes in Configuration .

What approach should be better ?

DEV : integrated

TESTING : integraed OR standalone

PRODUCTION : Standalone

OR

DEV :                  Standalone

TESTING :          Standalone

PRODUCTION :  Standalone

Hi Pankaj,

All environment should has the same Architecture.

DEV :                  Standalone

TESTING :          Standalone

PRODUCTION :  Standalone

The only reason to have DEV on integrated is when you have very clear an dominated the Data Transfer process (inbound and outbound) and you will take the risk to have it only in QA and PRD.

My recommendation go 3 equals enviroments Standalone. I think you can save machine on the sizing of DEV and not using integrated version.

Jose

Hi Pankaj,

Integrated/Standalone decisions are regarding HR integration. About settings/configurations please check note 997181 which describes both scenarios and what you have to do.

Another decision is afterwards what architecture you use for Web Dynpro as there are three constellations possible.

Hi Nicole,

Thats right.

I am already implementing INTEGRATED SCENARIO.

My Question is how Complex this approach is ?

DEV : integrated .

Testing : standalone or integrated

Production : standalone .

Is it happens really ?

What i came to know from Google and all, that we should follow either one approach .

This is what i want to know, if i agreed for this , then what will be complexity of troubles ?

Hi Pankaj,

Yes as José already mentioned: if one system is integrated, the others have to be integrated too because otherwise the DEV-Testing-Production constellation doesn't really make any sense.
