Hi Gurus,

Need you valuable help.

I have customizing project version, SKF, progress cost element, value category in order to BCWS and BCWP calculation Work.

I have tested with WBS element, they all works well.

When I test it with activity, the POC at this activity level is works well.

But the issue for BCWS value come.

If the plan cost of the activity is under cost element category 1 , BCWS has value correctly.

But If the plan cost of the activity is under cost element category 22 , BCWS has no value.

I have to use the cost element cat 22 , as required by accounting.

How to resolve this.

Thank You.

Dear All,

Regarding to above, here are additional information ;

I have done the following customization ;

Create 3 Value Categories ;

1. 'Cost' Value category "VC_C"

2. 'Cost' Value category "VC_S"

3. 'Cost' Value category "VC_P" with UM %

Assign Cost Element to Value Category ;

1. Cost Element of category 01 to "VC_C"

2. Cost Element of category 22 to "VC_S"    --> Settlement cost element

3. Cost Element of category 61 to "VC_P"    --> Progress / EV Cost element

I have create 2 network activities ;

one assigned to cost element cat 01,

the second one assigned to cost element cat 02.

Put the cost and schedule as necessary for both activity.

When I run CJEN ;

The first activity has two line : one with value cat "VC_C" and the other with value cat "VC_P" ,

The second activity has only one line : with value cat "VC_S" , and no line with value cat "VC_P" .

I believe, without value from VC_P , there will no BCWS nor BCWP.

Please help me.

Hi

Can you check if the cost element in the 2nd activity (with CE category 02) is manitained / available in the Cost element Group in SPRO (Progress analysis > Maintain assignment of cost element group)

Hi Sejo,

Thank You for your response.

First,

I would like to clarify that the cost element for second activity is cost element with category 22, not 02.

(external settlement account)

To answer your query,

I have created 2 cost elements with category 61.

In the Progress analysis > Maintain assignment of cost element group ;

One of these cost elements (cat 61) is assigned to a cost element group which contained cost element with cat 01. This is set to be the default.

The other one of these cost elements (cat 61) is assigned to a cost element group which contained cost element with cat 22.

Hope clear enough.

I feel cost element with category 22 cannot be used for cost planning.

without value from VC_P , there will no BCWS nor BCWP

you right assume : because when you are not putting any input as DPR (daily progress report) on daily basis then BCWS and BCWP will not updated. let say you have to complete any activity 100 M3 and day by day activity executing consider 50 M3 has been completed.once you confirm 50 M3 then BCWS and BCWP would be update in report.

Check OKB2 which one cost category is define there?

Hi Erry,

Normally, Cost planning is done against cost elements againnst which actual cost can be posted.

For example, CE catergory  1 (primary cost element) & 2 (secondary cost element).

Similary, revenue planning is done against revenue cost element agaisnt which revenue is expected to be posted. Revenue cost elements are cost elements with category 11.

I am not able to understand the business need to plan cost against a setlement cost element (cat. 22)?

Hi Sejo,

Currently, the PS is used for cost collector, budget control, and asset settlement only.

We use budget instead of cost plan, at WBS level.

At the activity level, all transaction is done against cat 22 cost element.

The Schedulling and EV analysis is not used until now.

Now, we want to activate teh schedulling and EV functions.

All relevant customizing has been done as I mentioned above. And this works fine (POC and EV) if we analyze at WBS level.

Maybe because the cost planning at WBS level is not dealing with cost element.

When I try to go further with activity level, which is already set to use cat 22 cost element.

The cost plan (at this activity level) is works.

But the progress cost element (cat 61) which assigned to cost element group contained this cat 22 cost element could not get data.

---

I don't know why all activity is set to use cat 22 cost element, at the first place.

Any suggestion ?
