About new material type issue

Dear Expert,

       I have a problem like that: I create new material type "ZIRH" but don't delete current material type "ZICH". Now I want to maintain material type "ZICH" OF

material A to assgin plant 1000. I used mm01, I see material A changed 'ZIRH'. What wrong with my config?

How automatically material type of a material A will be changed?

I do not see,you have any configuration issue but cross check how your master data are created!

You clearly said - you created a new material type "ZIRH" & you already have old material type "ZICH" and want to creates a material A for old material type "ZICH". As in your system - material A created with new material type "ZIRH" with  plant 1000,if needed-you can change material type of material A with t.code: MMAM from new material type "ZIRH" to old material type "ZICH"

Hello Andy,

Both the material types are available in the system.

May be you have created material A with material type 'ZIRH' for the same plant. It is standard behaviour of the system once the material is created in system for particular material type again we can extend the views in MM01 tcode for the same material...and system already has a master data for material A created for material type 'ZIRH'. Even when you try to create material A with material type ZICH the system automatically changes from ZICH to ZIRH.

In this case if you want to change the material type of the material A then use tcode: MMAM. For this make sure the valuation class is also assigned to your new material type in Config..

If that is the Case Preeti why cant we see the report of MAterials in MM60 Both Material Types?

Please tell me in which table we can see the both material types?

And who told you that we can see both the material type for a single material??

Basically do you need the old material type? is it only for reference?

See Material can be of One material Type. So Your requirement is not possibe through standards.

Even if you change the material type from ROH to HALB, you can see HALB in the reports.

Better you develop a field in MMR for Old material type.

I understand your problem as below

Old material type ZICH

New Material type ZIRH

You are creating material A with material type ZICH for plant 1000.System is changing material type to ZIRH

Menace material A is already maintained with material type ZIRH with other plant or with same plant.

Pls cross check. If it is already created you can’t change it with MM01.

You have to use MMAM t code to change material type with all prerequisite.
