Client Copy taking more than a week and still active

Former Member

Dear All,

I am working on the Installation of New SAP Server.

Server Details: IBM Server, Intel Xe0n Processor, 16 GB Ram.

I am done with all the Installation steps. And now I am working on Post Processing steps i.e. Client Copy

The Issue is :

I have schedule Client Copy Job on 21st March and now Its been more than a week but the Status of Job is still active.

I checked Logs also. The Last entry was of 29th March. And the logs keep on updating. When I click on Details: User Exit number is also increasing.

Does anyone how much more time it will take?

Hi Suruchi,

while scheduling the Local client copy the System will prompt you to perform the below things, have you done this?

  1. Start the wizard to create a new RFC connection

or perform the following steps manually:

  1. Create an RFC destination with the target ZK>source client of client copy (in this case 000).
  2. Check whether the RFC destination works in transaction SM59. To avoid errors when assigning the password or the authorizations of  the RFC user, use the authorization test Test -> Authorization.
  3. Enter the RFC destination:

    -   Transaction: FINB_TR_DEST (Destinations for Transport Methods of

        the Financials Basis)

    -   Client: 000

Start the client copy again.

Thanks

Hello Everyone,

I just checked my Logs for Client Copy in sm37/sm66/scc3 and found that Client Copy Jpb status is finished now.

When I checked logs, I found one warning i.e.

FINB_TR_CC_EXIT_TARGET FIN-FBApplication Exit Error

Can someone tell what should be done?

Dear All,

When I implemeted Note 1235955,

1. Execute report ABADRCHECK with selected 'DELSTEPS'

No inconsistencies found

2. Execute FINB_TR_EXEC_AI

Program Giving Dump - Time limit exceeded.

What should i do?

In background mode, the job was successful. Nothing in logs

Not a problem.

Thats it.... I believe your client copy is completed.

I have faced this issue before... Raised a SAP message ... They replied to run this report and close it.

So that means the warning is resolved. No More Issues would occur?

Hi Suruchi,

1) Abort the existing running client copy.

2) Based on your database check whether enough free space exists. Also check upon the log area.

3) Ensure you have updated kernel installed in the system.

4) Ensure you have atleast 6 dialog work processes in the system

5) While doing client copy you may check upon increasing the number of parallel jobs

This will expedite the client copy process.

Hope this helps.

Dear All,

Thanks for replying.

I know Client Copy should not take more than 4-5 hrs.

But the point is I have already restarted this Background job 2-3 times before and every time Client Copy is taking this much of time.

Plus the Logs keep on updating and the count of exit programs, selection exits keep on increasing.

Hi Suruchi,

Have you gone through the checks mentioned in my response.

This would help in expediting the client copy process.

Note: When you restart the client copy again, check that it is not starting again from scratch. In such a case it will delete all the contents copied till it was stopped and then start copy again. Hence time taken will be more in this case.

Hi suruchi,

Can you paste the logs for scc3.

Also check for any runtime dumps in ST22.

Can you tell me , which database you are using?

Hi,

It seems that something is wrong in your client copy.

Usually client copy  from 001 to any newly created client won't take more than 2 to 5 hours based on the system performance but not for days.

Please go through the below SAP note and try to optimize the client copy and start again.

Note 446485 - CC-ADMIN: Special copying options

Please cross verify whether the steps you are using a correct one.

1.Create a new client in the system using SCC4

2.login to  the newly created client using sap* and password as pass.

3.Start the client copy by selecting SCCL.

4.select the profile correct

5.Execute  the client copy in background mode.

6.see the logs in SCC3.

I hope this information helps.

Thanks and Regards,

Vimal
