Hi Experts,
is Microsoft Office 2013 supported by BPC 10 / EPM Add-in?
I can not find any notes about this subject.
Thank you and kind regards
Tobias
Hi Tobias,
As of now, the support is as below:
1. Office 2003 in Sp07 and above
2. Office 2007
3. Office 2010 (32 bit only). 64 bit is supported in SP09 and above
Hope this helps.

SP14 was a first attempt and not worked for everyone, e.g. http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1965149
Full support (including 64-bit Office) starts from SP20: http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2130246

I had faced issue with connecting to BPC 10.1 using Excel 2013 - EPM-Addin, I had encountered error "EPM General error " Unable to connect to server". Some of the above comments were helpful but had not resolved the issue. Steps followed to resolve
Ensured 1 .Net 4.0 is installed
2. XML Parsor 6.0
3. Visual C++ 10.0 relevant for windows OS installed
4. 1. Epm addin 10.0 SP22 is installed
Even after this encountered error " Unable to connect to server". I had make settings in the Antivirus software as it was blocking the applications. launch Antivirus software and click on Network threat protection, Click on application settings and enable settings for .Net, Excel and Word, SAP to successfully connect to server. Hope this info helps.

Hello everyone,
I recently discovered there are two versions of the EPM Add-in on the SAP Service Marketplace:
1. EPM Excel Client for 10.0
2. EPM Big Vol Excel Client for 10.0
I uninstalled my existing EPM add-in (which I had installed from my server) and deleted the install folders completely. I then downloaded and installed the latest EPM Big Vol Excel Client and it works without any issues. I will continue using it and see if any issues pop up and post them here.
Regards,
Aditya
Hi Cesar,
We have received feedback (including the comments below) that this URL does not work. I have no difficulty viewing this link, and it seems to have almost 600 views.
To those with difficulty, please make sure you are logged into the SCN forum. If you still have an issue, please reply to this comment with a screenshot of the error.
The blog does address a third-party solution to Office 2013 installation issues caused by VBA. It is not a solution supported by SAP. SAP recommends that you install the latest Support Package (SP18), which also includes support for Office 365.

Good morning from California SAP friends: My solution was taken down by SCN moderators. I do not remember being told why. I will go ahead and figure out how to repost it. Please note: my solution was for a VBA issue associated with *some* Office installations, mainly the versions that were digitally delivered, (download vs convention cd installation) Make sure as the SCN moderator suggested you are on the latest SP which is SP18. I will post shortly.
Hi Cesar,
We didn't take down your solution. Please let me know if you are getting an error of this sort. For me, the URL opens correctly.
I do however believe that the solution is now somewhat outdated, and if anyone has issues of this sort in SP18 Patch 1, they should create a new post.
This post was created in March 2013. I will lock it shortly to ensure that it does not have conflicting and outdated suggestions.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, could you provide an SAP source (note, post, etc) that supports this:
SAP recommends that you install the latest Support Package (SP18), which also includes support for Office 365.
I'm searching for what SAP has to say about it but have found only these notes:
Both of them conclude it's not supported but users have reported to have done this succesfully, but would like to know the official SAP version. Thanks!
Guys,
with excel 2013 epm add in is working fine. try to get the latest EPM Add in. My observation is some of the features are not all perfectly implemented. hope it take some time for excel 2013 with epm add. but if you want to get used to the latest one it works fine.
Decision is up to to you.

I have experience using Excel 2013 with BPC NW and BPC MS (64-bit) , running on windows 8. It is indeed running with the latest support packs, but still it is not workable on a project. Excel seems to crash in many occasions and the EPM add-in response times become very long after a while. Then you re-start Excel and the performance is back to normal , but temporary.
So I recommend not to use Excel 2013 with the BPC EPM Add-In.

Hi,
I think without uninstalling the previous version you might have over written office 2013. some how its not working something. try following the approach suggested by chavarria and let us know if you face any problem.
And right now I am using EPM Add in SP17 which is compatible with 2013 so u need to check is your EPM add in is compatible with office 2013 or not.
Regards,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
I was informed previously that the SP14/15 was only able to be used in MS Office 2013 Pro edition and not Home Edition due to the availability of Visual Basic for Application.
Therefore, would like to confirm from your experience whether SP17 is able to be used with Office 2013 Home Edition?
Sorry to have ask you this as I am unable to open the release notes.
Thanks a lot.
Hello,
I am using Window 8 with excel 2013.
but you try with the below steps.
1.go to control panel and select add remove programs.
2.hear you should be able to find your office installed on your PC
3.select your installed office and then say add remove components.
4.go to office shared features and then select vb for applications and select it to run from your pc.
Hope this will help.
Regards,
Andrew.
Dear Andrew,
I've tried but I am unable to find the add/remove button. I was informed by our IT personnel that our MS Office 2013 is click-to-run version and not retail version.
In this version I am only able to uninstall or change. Uninstall will uninstall permanently while change only have quick repair and online repair option. There is no option to go to shared features.
Please advice.
Thank you.
Zalifah.

We have BPC for Microsoft as well.
When we had that 2007 error occur some time ago as shown up above during attempting to install 64 bit add-in (bigvol), SP14 I think, Office 2010, we had luck in one instance by uninstalling and reinstalling Office and in another instance, we just reloaded the original Windows workstation image and it magically decided that was good enough - the add-in install went off without a hitch after installing the required MS components for Visual C++ 2010+ and .net 4.0 (which only ever happens on the 64 bit installs). We figure that something in Windows had gotten corrupted.
We've found the 32 bit add-in to be much more stable than the 64 bit one, and the latest SP18 to be the best overall both for Office 2013 and 2010. We've been recommending to our business units to install Office at 32 bit if they have a choice, regardless of what their O/S is because the BPC add-in for Microsoft Platform always works perfectly in the 32 bit Office installations. Most casual business users will never notice a difference between the two other than BPC freezing up less frequently.
One final mention on Office 2013: While it works fine for us at this time, it's really only with the latest SP18 + add-in installs. The older add-ins froze and disabled themselves frequently. One thing our users noticed with Office 2013 is that it doesn't natively support having multiple sessions where one is connected and another not connected. However, there's a workaround we found. I think if I recall, it's opening up an Office app (i.e. Excel), then down in the Windows task bar, hold down Alt and right-click to open another window. That will open up a discrete session as opposed to it's native single session.
Oh! Also, we learned that the add-in allows you to "upgrade" or "repair" by simply reinstalling it over itself. So if you want to updatee your add-in version, there's no need to uninstall it first. I know this is so for the 32 bit. Not sure on 64 bit.

Hi
I just checked SAP Note - SAP Note 1855186 - ALL: Windows 8, Office 2013 and Internet Explorer 10 Support.
It stated that Office 2013 is supported for EPM add-in 10.0 SP14 onwards.
Has anyone tried that Excel 2013 works or not. I need to know.
Thanks
Jigar
