Improve performance during export

Former Member

Hi

I am doing export of DB using R3SETUP. Package splitter is done for 148 highest table. Size of DB is 4.2TB.

It has running for more than 4 days now and only 5 packages are left.

Most of the packages have been running for more than 24hours now and even the dump files are yet to be created.

I am running out of time now.

How I may improve this? Appreciate some helps.

Regards

Hi,

Well before you can improve anything you need to know the performance bottleneck and time consuming parts. Once exported you can start with Migtime.

There are a lot of (performance improving) possibilities like package splitting, table splitting, distribution monitor, defining custom (table) access path, unloading unsorted and many more.

I would suggest to get a (performance optimization) consultant on board and then you can do it on your own. A 4.2 TB database is usually not a "real big deal"

Hi Deepak

It is not a duplicate thread. On this thread, i would like to improve the export when it is already started.

Thanks Stefan

I am puzzling now why these 5 packages is taking too long?

The rest which are more bigger already completed.

Base on the server usage, all for me, I think its OK. It just these 5 packages haven't start to write the dump file yet. After 30 hours

Are you exporting sorted (sounds like such kind of stuff)? What is the wait event of the corresponding Oracle sessions?

Maybe possible, but it depends on the root cause of course.

Thanks to all.

I am agreed with Stefan Koehler whereby before export, details preparations needs to be done.

Export is completed successfully but without the 5 packages. They are skipped.

They are exported manually using sapdba.

Err, may I know how to close this discussion?
