Why use "DBD::SybaseASE" instead of "DBD::Sybase"?

Has anyone used the new proprietary DBD::SybaseASE from Sybase (http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.sybase.infocenter.dc01694.1570/doc/html/car1311375022415.html)?

I tested it rather extensively over the weekend and personally don't see any real benefit of using it over Michael Peppler's DBD::Sybase (http://search.cpan.org/~mewp/DBD-Sybase/Sybase.pm). The performance is nearly identical between the two drivers from the testing I've done.

This isn't a "it's proprietary so it's bad" question, but a "what would justify the switch to DBD::SybaseASE"?
