NWBC for HTML and Safari browser?

We are running ESS/MSS on NWBC for HTML v3.0 (NetWeaver 7.02 release) and getting ready to open it up to other web browsers, including Apple Safari and Google Chrome.  For the most part things are good even in Safari – but the biggest issue has been our ESS Payslip which runs web dynpro component HRESS_A_PAYSLIP  with an Adobe form. The payslip is very slow and can’t be navigated very well. The ‘Open in New Window’ either refuses to work or is very slow. If using an iPad or iPhone, it won’t render the portion of the payslip that is not first displayed on the page. Has anyone solved this problem? We’re upgrading to EHP6 and NetWeaver 7.03 starting next month. I’m hoping to see some improved results with Safari post-upgrade, but am not feeling very confident.

What NW702 SP level are you running? See if SAP note 1613215 is relevant for you.

There are many SAP notes on Safari support. In your case I assume the NWBC, WDA, ADS (Adobe Document Service) and ESS/MSS specifc notes are the most important ones. Surely Safari support in NetWeaver 7.3x is better than in NetWeaver 7.02 but it is not on par with Firefox nor IE.

Hi Samuli,

Thanks for responding. We're on SAPKB70211 right now. Note 1613215 is in SAPKB70210.

As you say, we're hopeful that NetWeaver 7.3x will be better. But we received conflicting reports of Safari performance with NetWeaver 7.3x when discussing it with various experts at the HR2013 confrence earlier this month.

I have seen lots of SAP notes on the subject, including one that says Adobe Interactive will not work with Safari. Of course we're not using Adobe Interactive here - this is a simple output-only form developed via HRFORMS.

Thanks again,

Jay

Hi Jay

Out if interest have you got anywhere with this.

Chrome used to work fine for us, but after upgrading to SP12 the dropdown seems to stop display the payslip, same in safari.

All very odd

Hi James,

Our web browser issues were resolved when we applied EHP6 and patches through SAPKB73106. At this time IE, Safari, Chrome and Firefox are all working for us, including in the ESS Payslip. We still have problems with smart phones like iOS, but SAP has informed us that the NWBC for HTML is not supported under iOS.

We did have a problem with users not being able to even log into Chrome, and fixed that by changing the Login XSRF Protection setting in the NWBC service in SICF.

You might need to contact SAP support. They at least gave me some guidance on how to resolve the issue.
