SAP Script has nothing to do with the font Language. The Language Option in SAP Script is to print Forms in different Laguages. And it prints even if you give English in German Form.

Printing an Indian Language depends on the Printer support. SAP sends Font to Printer as Print Control. Check with the printer or font manafacturer if the Printer suppoerts Hindi.

You can get Hindi Printer with a windows font , from MS Word , on any Printer in thw world. But now at Windows Font on SAP.

Either SAP has to Provide option for Hindi or the Printer.

This is Just like Printing Barcodes. Barcode can be printed from MS word, But not on SAP with out printer support.

Hope this Helps.

Good to hear that it works. I figure that most of the steps are in your second post. But, what made it print in Hindi and not in English?

Could you post you steps?

Cheers

Hi Everybody,

The problem is solved. The process as I had mentioned in my previous mail works fine.

Thanx everybody. Now, we have a methodology of easily printing any language (not supported by SAP) but having OS support.

Hi,

sorry I have to admit that I don't know that much about Hindi, but:

Earlier this year, I worked on a 472 unicode system and implemented sapscript forms in both English and Chinese and it was real fun! - But people told me that the upgrade to unicode on SAP took at least as much time and effort as a release change...

Printing was kind of a hassle: No problem using windows local printer via saplpd. But for setting up a network printer neither SAP (recommendation: Lexmark) nor the big printer manufacturer (HP) had reliable information except that the printer needs a harddisk for font storage.

Hope this small contribution is of any help.

Thanx Mr.Prabhu.

In my previous messages I have mentioned that I have tried making the form using the Hindi font. But it shows text in English only.

And when I set the Hindi font as default (Header Information), the form doesn't gets activated at all It gives error that the font is not a SAP font.

Any further suggestions.

There is a way to print barcodes on a SAPscript by specifying the print controls on the printer in SAP. I beleive it used character sets and was setup the transaction SPAD.

I will have to do some digging.

Thanx Mr.John.

Right now 'Hindi' is not supported. What possibly can be the workaround. Rather this can be possiblity for any language which is not supported by SAP.

Any other possibility as such.

Hi Deva,

I agree with what John says....

Firstly, translation from an English form to Hindi is a different thing. (for which ofcourse the environment including the translation bw english and hindi shd also be available - which is currently not).

And actually developing the form is different.

Having installed the Hindi font, did u try developing a form in HIndi. Instead of picking up a font at runtime ?

Try and let us know.

PS: Remember 2 reward suitable points.

Thanx Asish. I had previously too put up the similar question but there had been no response from anybody.

Rather I have tried out something. Can you please guide further in this regard.

My Concept :-

1. Load the font to R/3.

2. Access the font in Form or Standard Text.

My Developments :-

1. Using SE73 I uploaded the font to R/3.

2. Using Form (Paragraph with hindi font) I tried to print.

My Results :-

1. Form prints only in English.

My Analysis :-

1. The form had language 'EN'. The environment is not there to run form in 'hindi'.

My Doubts :-

1. Can form can pick up font at runtime presentation server. If that can happens then the form will pick up hindi font installed on PC.

Any suggestions.

Deva.

For SAPscripts there a two parts that drive the forms language, the language specified on the output request and the language in which the form is in. Normally, SAPscripts are delivered in an original language of German and may or may not have translations. Have you looked to see if your SAPscript can have a Hindi translation? I don't know that it can pick up a font at runtime. What I usually do is in SE71 in the header information, click on translate to individual languages and then go into the dropdown to choose the languages that I want. At the moment I do not have access to my SAP system, so I cannot tell you if Hindi is available.

Hope this helps

Hi Deva

There will definitely be problems with the form printing using images for text.

You can think of talking to SAP directly for language issue. May be they can suggest you the possibilities/best approach.
