Hi there,

Created webi report by using Web Intelligence through BI Launch Pad. Environment is BI 4.0. Data source is Bex query connection thorugh BICS method.

Below given screen is the webi report, i have 3 question on this report. could you share me your idea/experience.

1st Question: When run a query in Bex Fiscal Year coloumn is displaying Key value like 2011, 2012 & 2013. where as it is Medium text and Key , instead of key when fiscal year object is called and used in webi report. How to disply key instead of medium text and key.

2nd Question: If you see 2nd column from below screen shot, it is displaying Dimension Discription and Techinican Name ( Project Type(ZCO_CTITM__0PS_PRJTYPE). however bex query is showing only description. How to show only dimension discription as column...?

3rd Question: I dont want to diplay WBS Hierarchy as a column. I want to show only "WBS". How can i do thi...?

What ever output you are gets in your webi reports, this is based on the objects property set in cubes level. If year is set as Text, you will get text in BO. you need to set the query/cube property so that you will get the keys and text both in BO when you try to create report on BeX.

Hi,

Output depends on objects you have selected. Please also post Query panel.

1st Question: When run a query in Bex Fiscal Year coloumn is displaying Key value like 2011, 2012 & 2013. where as it is Medium text and Key , instead of key when fiscal year object is called and used in webi report. How to disply key instead of medium text and key.

>> You can truncate to display only year using a substr() or right() function in webi.

2nd Question: If you see 2nd column from below screen shot, it is displaying Dimension Discription and Techinican Name ( Project Type(ZCO_CTITM__0PS_PRJTYPE). however bex query is showing only description. How to show only dimension discription as column...?

>> This might be coz of 2 reasons.. check if BEx query has a duplicate descriptions for different infoobject or check "Standard" display of an Infoobject.

3rd Question: I dont want to display WBS Hierarchy as a column. I want to show only "WBS". How can i do thi...?

>> Select the higher level Dimension of WBS infoobject than selecting a hierarchy based.

Check the WBS properties if "Hierarchy" property has been enabled. if you do not want then uncheck the option.

Thanks,

Jothi

for #2 and #3 - Common practice that I use all the time is that I define new WEBI variable as dimension allowing naming variable the way I want to column heading to be displayed. This allows me to fully control headings on my reports and it will not change if someone else changes settings in BEx or in BW. Another option you have is instead of using =Nameof() function as column name - replace it with plain text in heading. I personally prefer variables because in case I need to start change column sequence sing variables automatically change column headings vs. when using plain text - you will still need to re-shuffle column headings separately from column

Hello Jothi / Robs,

Both Ideas are worked perfectly. Thanks for it. Followed your ideas to fix 2nd 3rd issues in my report, created formula Variable using formula editor with Substr() function to display dimension column heading. You could see the same in below screen shot.

But, still 1st issue is remain to display only key instead of medium text and key. This is not Fiscal Year column heading to use above mentioned method. Jothi as you said in your previous post it can be done using right() function... I wonder if you could create me steps to do this. Attached screen shot with highlied red.

Thanks,

Venkat

hi all,

I created formula variable using Right()fucntion (to overcome remaining first issue) to display fiscal year key ( like 2011, 2012). Thanks for all your inputs.
