Exporting Chinese Characters in Text File

Former Member

Hi,

I would just like to ask if there is a way to export chinese characters correctly? For PDF, we have tried to change the font to Ming Liu and it worked. But for text file, it is not displayed correctly. It is either displayed as blank or "?".

Hoping to get your reply soon.

PS: We are using Crystal Reports 2011

Thanks

Thanks Prathamesh

Btw, is there a way to change the encoding of the text file exported from Crystal Reports? Currently, the report displays Chinese characters and it is not displayed properly in the text file. I think it is because it is saved as ANSI.

We are using Crystal Reports 2011, Crystal Reports Server 2011 and Java.

Thanks

NO.

You can check if following alternatives lead to any solution, though:

1. Use MS Arial Unicode MS font for the chinese characters.

2. Export to 'rtf' file format first and then convert it to 'text'

If nothing seems to work, you can go ahead and work with the SAP Support team.

Thanks,

It is not possible to change encoding?

I tried exporting to rtf file and converting it to text. I was able to display the characters correctly but the layout of the report was destroyed.

Also, i tried updating the crystal reports to sp05 and it did not work as well. I'm really thinking that it is because of the encoding. The exported text is in ANSI.

Thanks a lot.

Please upload the rpt file with saved data.  I'd like to test a possible solution for this.

When I opened your rpt in Crystal 2011 the text showed up as:

On the same machine, when opening that rpt in my viewer app (Crystal for VS 2010) the text showed up as:

The font used by your report is WenQuanYi Zen Hei and I don't have that font on my machine.

Perhaps this may explain the odd behavior.  In any case, try to test using a font that you can expect to be available on the machine where the test is conducted.

Below is the font used:

The test is conducted in my machine. The font is already installed. But still, I can't export to text properly.

Hi Jake,

You can upgrade to the latest support package-SP05 and test the same..

If same issue is found then you can raise a fix request by contacting the SAP support team.

Thanks,

Prathamesh
