Dear PM Guru'

I would like to know the difference between the PM02 and PM05 control keys. In general continuously i am using the PM01(Internal Operation) & PM03 (External Service) control keys in my plant maintenance activities. But now i have one challenge infront of me. my client have a business of like below.

He engaged the one contractor to do the all the electrical motors rewinding work in company premises. My client supplies all the materials for the rewinding except the resource. so how i can map this business process in sap. please let me know the solution as soon as possible.

PM02 - External Operations

PM03 - External Service Provider Operations (3rd party doing maintenance in our premises)

PM05 - Internal Services operations

---------------------------------------------------------------

As per your business scenario, you can use PM03 control key. Create Service Master in AC01 & assign those services in PM03 operations. Once operation is done, create Service Entry Sheet in ML81N.

Here either PM02 or PM05 can't be used.

hi,

as per the external service part we can use the PM03 control key, either the service person do the service at our premises or their premises we consider it as service. But i am asking about PM02 & PM05 control keys? in which business scenario we are using these two control keys.

I don't see any difference between PM01 & PM05 Control keys.

Regarding PM02, process flows like PM Order - PR - PO - GR for Operations - Invoice - TECO for PM Order

If PM03, Process flows like PM Order - PR - PO - Service Entry Sheet - Invoice - TECO for PM Order.

If you select PM02, PR will be generated for the operation which consists of all the service & components will be provided by vendor himself (only sometimes, components will be given to vendor).

For PM03, under Main operation, multiple services can be assigned & each service cost can settled to different cost element as well.

As a high level, no difference between PM02 & PM03, except some of the points mentioned below.

  1. Process Flow
  2. Posting Single operation cost (Service cost) to multiple cost elements
  3. With PM03, operations can be divided to sub level (Services).
  4. Billing based on Service done (with service master, you can give the times of the same service to be done i.e., planned & actual service got for vendor with Service Entry sheet)

Also check some more threads on the difference between all the control keys.
