Std BW cubes only allow inserts/summations..what abt the BPC cubes

Hello Experts,

When submitting the data through the Input forms manually, what is the data transfer mode used? In BW a standard cube is always a insert mode. You don't have an overwrite mode. How does data input through input forms/DTP's work in BPC cubes? Is the data always inserted or overwritten? How is data managed when posted to BPC cubes? Please shed some light on this.

Thanks

Esha

Hi Esha,

You can easily check what's going on when you send data using BPC Excel input schedule, journal or using DM: simply run RSA1 before and after send.

1. With input schedules and DM script logic the data is overwritten.

2. With journals the data is inserted.

Hi Esha,

For submit data to cube, it is as following

Your submit value,  value in the cube

5                              5/5-

7                              2/2-

You could check this via RSA1 then review the transaction data in the cube. Please do not set aggregate mode to show the data.

If you understand this, you will know why zero elimination is necessary, since if you submit 0, the backend will submit reverse value to keep total equals to 0.

Hello Vadim,

Thanks for replying. I am checking the cubes in RSA1 but I am not able to find it under the Infoprovider. Is their any setting to be turned on to see the BPC cubes in BW?

Hi Esha,

There is no special settings to see BPC cubes in RSA1, no difference with other cubes.

Additional comment about data send: I was talking about the result, not the way the data will be written to the cube. When you send data by the the input schedule or DM the delta value will be inserted in the cube to have the sum of all values equal to the send value. With journals the result will be sum of the existing values plus the value posted by journal.
