The tale of two hierarchies

Hello,

I have a GL_ACCOUNT dimension with two hierarchies, in BPC 10 NW. One of the hierarchies is coming from BW, second hiearchy is being maintained manually.

Here is what my transformation file look like:

NODENAME=*STR(AA_)+NODENAME

HIER_NAME=HIER_NAME

PARENT=*STR(AA_)+PARENT

CONVERSION FILE FOR HIER_NAME

EXTERNAL INTERNAL

0050 PARENTH1

The issue I am having is I keep getting error like this

Parent 'AA_3029' has different children in PARENTHH1 and PARENTHH2

Please advise.

Thanks.

    Hi Manny,

    For the hierarchy maintained manually simply add a fixed prefix to all parents to be sure that the rule is not violated.

    Hi Manny,

    as Nilanjan wrote you can't have one parent in 2 different hierarchies with different children, remember that the OLAP calculate the total value of the childrens and wrote it to the parent and it can't memorize two different values, same way when you extract the parent in a report, you haven't the possibility to explain from which hierarchy.

    Kind regards

    Hi Manny,

    This is a rule of hierarchy.

    A parent appearing in one hierarchy cannot appear in another hierarchy with different children.

    Hope this helps.
